I. The new BMW X5 – BMW's pioneering SAV

BMW X5 is the model that defines the concept of the Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) for BMW. Over 4 generations, more than 2.2 million BMW X5s have reached customers worldwide. The new BMW X5 in the Vietnamese market will continue to make its mark in the segment with its powerful design and cutting-edge technology.

1. The new BMW X5: S-slim headlights

The M Sport design elements as standard give the new BMW X5 significantly greater presence and visual robustness. Its front end is shaped by the fresh interpretation of the hallmark BMW headlights and kidney grille. The new headlight units now have a 35-millimetre slimmer outline. Their arrow-shaped daytime driving light elements point outwards and also serve as turn signal indicators. Matrix LED headlights with adaptive control and BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam come as standard.

The precisely updated design of the new BMW X5 also spans newly designed air breathers in the front side panels, vertical air curtains and lower air intake, complete with decorative trim detail in Black High-gloss.

The sculptural fibre-optic light guide elements for the rear lights and brake lights now have particularly striking contouring. The L shape familiar from other BMW models is reflected horizontally, creating a consistently illuminated X motif within the rear lights.

2. Modern cockpit design with all-digital BMW Curved Display

Digital technology is the guiding force behind the advances brought to the interior of the new BMW X5. The integration of BMW Operating System 8 and the latest generation of the iDrive control/operation system also heralds the arrival of the BMW Curved Display in the Sports Activity Vehicle. It is made up of a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel and a control display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches – both located behind a single glass surface. The touch control functionality of the control display has brought about a significant reduction in the number of buttons and switches in favour of digital control for numerous functions.  

Standard specification includes sports seats, an instrument panel with surfacing in leather-like Sensafin and a curving trim element in fine wood. Another new feature is the ambient light bar with highly effective LED backlighting integrated below the trim element in the front passenger area. Model lettering is added to the light bar’s graphic.

3. New engine, new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and systematic electrification

The new BMW X5 comes as standard with a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine from the latest generation of power units. The engine now links up with the likewise new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, complete with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. It sends its power to the road – or indeed unpaved surfaces, as the need arises – via the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

The drive unit now features 48V mild hybrid technology. This application of electrification comes in the form of an electric motor integrated into the transmission. This motor generates an output boost of up to 9 kW/12 hp and 200 Nm of torque, helping the combustion engine to deliver a smooth, dynamic drive along with high efficiency.

4. Latest-generation six-cylinder in-line petrol engine

The new engine develops maximum output increased by 46 hp over the outgoing model to 381 hp, plus peak torque up to 520 Nm. This can be boosted to as much as 540 Nm with the input of the mild hybrid system. The engine accelerates the new BMW X5 xDrive40i from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

5. Sophisticated chassis technology underpins sporting ability and long-distance comfort

The integrated braking system is a key element of the advanced chassis technology at work here. Standard specification also includes 21-inch M Y-spoke wheels for the new BMW X5.

6. Additional systems for assisted driving and automated parking

The new BMW X5 is equipped with a lane departure warning system, collision warning system, and automatic braking assistance. The new X5's driving assistance system also provides parking and reversing assistance features with a 360-degree camera.

II. BWM XM - Outstanding Performance in an SAV

1. M HYBRID drive system – the first plug-in hybrid drive system from BMW M

The M HYBRID drive system in the BMW XM fuses future-focused qualities with traditional virtues. It enriches the BMW XM’s performance characteristics with an even faster power delivery and significantly improved efficiency. M Hybrid is based on V8 engine, developed with the renowned M TwinPower Turbo technology. The BMW XM delivers an overall system output of 653 hp (generated by the combination of the V8 combustion engine with up to 489 hp and the electric drive system with up to 197 hp).  

BMW XM's power is demonstrated through the all-wheel-drive system M xDrive. This system accurately, swiftly, and dynamically distributes the power generated by the combustion engine and electric motor to all four wheels as needed. The M xDrive features a rear-biased setup, drivers can also choose 4WD Sand mode, designed specifically for driving on challenging terrain.

2. Unique design: Represents BMW's flagship high-performance SAV model

The exterior design of the BMW XM references BMW’s modern design language. Headlights split into two separate units, a BMW kidney grille with gold-coloured surrounds and continuous contour lighting, as well as large air intakes are the defining features of the front end. The Adaptive LED headlights have its light functions split into two separate areas – the daytime driving lights, side lights, and turn indicators are integrated into the ultra-slim, crisply contoured upper elements, while the low-beam and high-beam headlights are positioned deep in the front apron. Horizontal grille bars are present as a hallmark feature of high-performance sports cars from BMW M GmbH, while the double surrounds of the kidneys emphasise their octagonal contours particularly vividly.

At the rear, the first-ever BMW XM bring a generous feeling of space, high-quality materials, and extravagant design with an exclusive M Lounge, quilted Alcanatara covers, 3D diamond at the door trim panels. Ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with 1.475 -watt amplifier are all standard features in Vietnam.
